Bishop Elementary is proud to have Sarah Chumbley serve as our Campus Military Liaison Officer. As a dedicated Bishop CISD employee and community member for the past 11 years, Sara is committed to supporting military-connected students and their families throughout their educational journey. She understands that school transitions can be challenging and works closely with families to ensure a smooth and positive experience. Sara is always available to answer questions, provide guidance, and connect military families with resources and support. Her caring nature and commitment to student success make her a valuable advocate for our military families and the Bishop Elementary community. The campus-based liaison is recognized as one of the strongest supports for address social and emotional needs of military families, parents, and students. This position is served by the school counselor at Bishop Elementary, Sarah Chumbley. The major duties and responsibilities include:
- Helps children adjust when a parent deploys or returns home
- Supports students who move frequently because of military assignments
- Connects families with counseling, tutoring, transportation, or community resources
- Communicates between the school and military families
- Helps teachers understand challenges military children may face
- Coordinates programs for military appreciation events or Month of the Military Child
- Assists with enrollment and records transfers for incoming military families
- Advocates and interacts with students on campus for their needs at all times of the school year.
